Open Question: I need a jewelry appraiser in Richmond, VA.?
I want an honest appraiser in the Richmond, VA area who can look at a few rings I have and give me an accurate value. I don’t want a pawn shop or “cash for gold” place. I will pay for a professional, written appraisal.

Resolved Question: Help with a holiday window display/promotions for a jewelry store? 10pts!!!!?
Hi. I work in a jewelery store, and we’re starting to think about what to do for our Christmas promotions and window display and could use some help to know what would bring people in. 10 easy points to the person with the best feedback.

1. We are in a historical building, so what we can do in the window is limited. We have a ledge to put the large silver/crystal/china pieces on and a very large showcase behind it. We are limited as to what we can put in this showcase because our insurance won’t allow anything over $500 in it, and small pieces don’t show up. We were thinking of using our appraisal camera to take close up photos of jewelry that is too expensive/too small and blowing them up to highlight them in the window case? Would this bring you in to look at the piece up close? Or would something else? And what kind of pieces would you like to see that would bring you in for a closer look? We’re open to all suggestions here……

2. We ran a very small sale around Christmas last year (the first time we had a holiday sale in 17 years), and it seemed to draw a lot of people in. So this year we are going to try it again, and add a few extra perks. Would any or all of these specials bring you into one store over another? 25% off any color stone or diamond with the purchase of a mounting (we do a lot of custom work). 30%-40% store-wide off day after thanksgiving sale? 15%-20% off store-wide, with holiday special items 30% off? A entry form with any jewelry purchase for a chance to win a holiday raffle item worth $500.00? We’re a small, family owned store, we can’t have 90% off sales like the mall stores, but we have unique jewelry no one else in the area has (like antique jewelery and silver). Would these special offers bring you in? Any other suggestions, keeping in mind we only have so much room to play with for a sale?
