The Story of Captain Bones

Captain Bones was overlooking the sun-touched open sea. He talked in a monstrous, hideous voice. He sounded like the living dead!
“Another day of pure beauty despite this inhumane curse.” He only said this when no one else was around.
He was a man of great strength and power. He was a man of fortitude and ambition.
Captain Bones was not a man. He was the victim of a very strange curse. When he opened a haunted treasure chest in Bermuda, his flesh and blood disappeared yet he remained alive. He was a deathly living skeleton, a man of bones. And, he was all the more powerful. When he put on a certain black hat with a skull on it, his legend had begun. This was in the year 1691 A.D.
Soon, he was commanding a legion of soldiers from the Caribbean. I call them soldiers because that is how they behaved under the command of Captain Bones. All were afraid of them.
In short time, Captain Bones seized the cargo of over 300 ships. Some of them were loaded with riches. All who fought with swords against the Captain not only died, but there was no trace of their bodies. Captain Bones used a demon incantation to make the dead disappear, but it’s too terrible, I can’t tell you about it.
When Captain Bones had collected enough gold coins to move onto land, he and his men did. He bought five mansions and a tall castle on the island of Haiti, the most prosperous Kingdom in the Caribbean.
Captain Bones was a master swordsman after the curse had been put on he. He defeated legion after legion of mercenaries from around the Caribbean. The number of famous swordsmen in the world diminished because of Captain Bones.
By 1699, Captain Bones had an unofficial army of 10,000 men. He bought land on every island in the Caribbean. After he became fabulously wealthy, he actually commanded his legions to stop their piracy. The seas became safe again. But except for one occasion, the Crown did not try to apprehend him.
An Englishman named James Edward Cook was the finest swordsman of his time. He had defeated other swordsmen on all the continents. He thought Captain Bones was loathesome. He made elaborate plans for his life whenever he thought about the day he would kill the Captain. He truly believed he would be famous around the world.
One day, Cook made his way onto Captain Bones’ ship. He found Captain Bones in his quarters when the Captain least expected someone to strike. Cook lunged at him with his sword, smashing his skeleton body into a pile on the wooden deck. He thought the Captain was dead. But he was horrified when the bones started to reform! In thirty seconds, Captain Bones was alive and fighting again. He and James Edward Cook fought bravely for an hour, but at last, Cook fell to the deck in death. While living, Captain Bones was only reduced to a pile of bones this one time.
With Cook defeated, the Crown invited him to sign a truce in Jamaica. The Captain unwisely accepted. The Crown was aware of the haunted treasure chest that spawned his immortal state.
The Captain had become preferential to fair-play. He owned the Caribbean, and he thought there was no way he could be stopped. The British were cordial with the Captain in Jamaica, and he was cordial. After a beautiful feast that lasted three days and nights, all of the Captain’s men were asleep. Captain Bones thought little of it. The Captain continued to eat, in the most crude way. He was a man of bones and little else, but still the Captain ate. When a half-eaten piece of food fell through his jaws and into his ribcage, it then fell out, and onto the floor. And oh, whenever the Captain took a drink it splashed everywhere. Whenever Captain Bones called for expensive wine, no one was surprised when he wasn’t brought any.
But then, Sir David Hamilton, a General in the Royal Navy with a white beard and proud eyes, entered the room where the Captain was feasting. He set a large wooden box on the oak table.
“What is this?” said the Captain.
“It is a gift for you from London,” said Hamilton.
“A gift? For me?” said the Captain. Then, he opened the box. In it was the treasure chest, the one that cursed him. He felt the need to open it again, this treasure chest that began his Kingdom under the bright sun.
Hamilton began to chant in Latin. “For all of mankind I think it is best for your curse to be in this chest!”
Then, sadly, Captain Bones lay on the floor, just a pile of bones for the last time. When that happened, all of the Captain’s men were arrested. The bones were placed inside. The chest was shut and taken to the edge of the Earth, to be thrown off. It, like Captain Bones, was never seen again.
